JK Rowling appeared at the South Banks Awards on Monday night to receive an award for outstanding achievement. It was in recognition of her success in the Harry Potter novels. The award was presented to her by Lord Melvyn Bragg, at the 12th annual awards function, in Dorchester Hotel. Joan Rowling wore a shiny, multi-colored coat over her dress. Her coat attracted as much attention as her award.

Other celebrities who were present at the event included Kelly Osbourne, Twiggy, Ronnie Wood, Alesha Dixon and Holly Willoughby, Alexa Chung, Alex Turner, James McAvoy, Anne-Marie Duff and many more.

Artic Monkeys’ “Favorite Worst Nightmare” album won in the pop music category. Ann-Marie Duff accepted the theater award for the production of Saint Joan.

The South Bank Awards Show will be on TV’s ITV1 on Feb. 3.
